[Spotlite] First! ...and db/cache question

I would like to change the location of the program's (large) data files. I know that
spots.db and
spots.db-journal get big. I do not know of others.
Is there a way to adjust such, perhaps in the config file?
I am trying to manage my partitions & preserve my SSD.
Thanks,
cm

If you use the Windows version of SpotLite you can use the portable version and reuse the current installation.
Use
SpotLite for Windows (Portable) 2.0. Extract to the folder you like.
All files used by SpotLite will be stored in this folder.
It's possible to reuse an already installed SpotLite.
1- Extract the portable version. But don't start SpotLite yet.
2- Copy the next files to the new folder:
\skins
SpotLite.conf
cache.db
reactielijst.db
reactielijst.db-journal
spots.db
spots.db-journal
The location of the conf and the db files depends of the operating system.
Code: Selecteer alles
XP = C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Local Settings\ApplicationData\SpotLite\SpotLite\
Vista & Windows 7/8 = C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\SpotLite\SpotLite\
Linux = /home/username/.local/share/data/SpotLite/SpotLite/
Mac = /users/library/application support/SpotLite/
3- Start SpotLite from the new folder.
For Linux or MAC it can be be tested if making SpotLite portable results in a working SpotLite.
1- Copy all the SpotLite files to a new folder.
2- Create a empty (dummy) file "SpotLite.portable" in the new SpotLite folder.
3- Copy the conf and db files to the new SpotLite folder and start SpotLite from the new folder.

You could also use symlinks.
For symlinks in Windows, see
this page
Symlinks in GNU/Linux:

I've actually used Windows links on my pc for programs like bitcoin, you might have to wait somewhat longer but you'll have more diskspace on your SSD.
